Flat Roofs

We have the newest and most practical solution for all flat roofing work, from a small leaking porch to a new build office block. Using advanced technologies, our installers are fully qualified and highly skilled in the fitting of Firestone single-ply EPDM roofing membranes. Felt and bitumen roofing becomes brittle and cracks with age and needs to be replaced several times unlike EPDM that has a life expectancy of 50 years.

The benefits and advantages of EPDM rubber roofing:

  • No torching or heating required for installation making a safer application.
  • Less disruption to properties using faster installation methods.
  • Fewer seams so less chance of weather damage.
  • All weather application.
  • Single membrane. (no layers so no splitting).
  • Resistant to UV damage, weathering and abrasion.
  • Higher resistance to climate change.
  • Less ponding.
  • Heat and fire resistant.
  • Environmentally friendly.
  • Recyclable.

Ethylene Propylene Diene Monomer a technological advance is more commonly known as EPDM.

Within the past few years more and more householders have realised that EPDM synthetic rubber is the modern answer. It comes in one piece the size of the roof which negates the problems associated with parting joints. EPDM rubber will flex and resists all changes in temperature without cracking or peeling and is totally resistant to atmospheric pollution.

EPDM is environmentally friendly and stands up well againest other flat roofing materials such as PVC or Bituminous products. EPDM synthetic rubber is not as new as you might imagine, the first Synthetic Rubber Membranes, developed in America and were laid in the 1960’s and are still protecting flat roofs some 40 years on.

EPDM Synthetic Rubber Membrane is a remarkable material that can stretch, will not tear, split or crack, and is unaffected by UV light and ozone. It is designed to outlast all conventional roofing materials.

Over the years EPDM has been used under a wide range of climate conditions, from the glaring sun of Arizona to the Artic conditions of Alsaka and Northern Europe. Unlike most bituminous materials EPDM does not become brittle with age. The Guarentee on an EPDM roof can be longer than the full life of a felt roof. Its current life expectency is 50 years but this is an ever increasing amount as it is based on the forst EPDM roofs which were installed in the 1960’s, the longer they last the higher this number will become.
